Hello guys, I'm new here and I'm also from Norcal. Seems to be a lot more surf halibut hunters down there. I got a couple questions for you guys.

1. What size surf do you catch most of the fish in? I'm asking because here in Norcal the surf seems pretty ruff.

2. Are there a just more halibut in the surf in Socal? There just seems to be a lack of surf fisherman targeting halibut. Most of the Norcal halibut fisherman target them from boat or from piers from within the bay.

Thanks in advance. Wish I could fish down there.

I like 1-3ft waves with a 15-20sec interval. Big waves is just too difficult to fish from the shore, and no waves makes it hard to find structure.

There are many varieties from the surf down here in socal. Norcal have more strippers than we do. Halibut, croakers, sea bass, corbinas, perch,...............occasional calico and sand bass and sharks here and there.

Hope this helps
